Abstract

SURMMARY

When ascospores are formed within the ascus each nucleus and associated cytoplasm becomes enclosed by a cell wall. The origin of this wall is traced in a soft cleistothecial species, Dangeard. Asci in this fungus arise by budding, and some aspects of bud-wall formation are recorded here.
