These amines were not produced by any of 239 strains representative of other species in the family Enterobacteriaceae grown under the same conditions. This character is sufficiently constant to be included in the generic description. Ten strains of P. rettgeri did not produce these amines, and for this and other reasons it is proposed that this species be excluded from the genus Proteus.", }
