Abstract

Summary: A partially defined medium for cultivation of blood flagellates has been developed. In this medium blood was replaced by haematin, crystalline serum albumin and a series of simple growth factors. The medium supported growth of , and a few other strains of Trypanosomidae. The growth on this medium was comparable to that obtained on optimal bloodcontaining media; no change in growth was found after prolonged serial subcultivation.
