Abstract

SUMMARY: An apparatus was designed to photograph colonies of micro-organisms on Petri dishes either under conditions of dark-field illumination or of top-lighting. It serves to reveal any motility of the organisms and is valuable as an aid to identification, particularly in the genus , members of which have characteristic giant colonies.
