Abstract

SUMMARY: When grown in a medium containing 2 to 4% sucrose, var. formed two reducing compounds which accumulated in the culture medium. These compounds had the properties of the disaccharides 6--α--glucopyranosyl--fructofuranose (palatinose, isomaltulose) and 1- -α--glucosyl-fructose.
